Exchange in Cologne

Students from the Media Production programme took part in an exchange with the Berufskolleg für Medienberufe in Cologne. Juli, one of our Media students, shares her experience!

First exchange in Arnhem

In December 2023, the German students came to Arnhem for the first time.
We prepared a tour of our school and made a list of questions to help us get to know each other better. In small mixed groups, we teamed up with the German students.

At first, it felt a bit awkward most of us didnt speak German, and most of them didnt speak Dutch. But luckily, we managed well in English!

The atmosphere quickly became fun and relaxed. We learned a lot from each other.
Our assignment that day: take photos and later design postcards from them.
It wasnt always easy to get everything just right, but together we made it work. The collaboration went smoothly!

Second exchange in Cologne

In April 2024, it was our turn to visit Cologne.
We arrived by bus and received a warm welcome.

That day was full of new experiences and inspiration. Working with the German students and teachers went really well. We talked about our study programmes and how things are organised differently there.

We also got a photography assignment later, we edited the photos in the schools media labs.

Third exchange in Arnhem

In June 2024, the German students came back to Arnhem this time, with some first-year students too.

This day was a bit different. We, the students, got to create the programme and organise the activities ourselves.
That was a real challenge! It wasnt always easy to plan everything well and keep our group together.

But in the end, we made something really special out of it.
It was also extra fun to see the second-year students again.

We ended the day with a big picnic in the park near the station with food, drinks, music, and great vibes

Juli about her experience

These exchanges were really special and fun.
I learned a lot about how the German students work in their study programme but also about how we can plan things ourselves, make mistakes, and try again. That gave us a lot of freedom.

Sometimes it was hard, but that made it even more valuable.

Id love to do this more often. If you enjoy being hands-on, organising things, and having fun this is for you!
